Beauty by the fire

More than just a room to furnish… this construction project morphed two disconnected living rooms into one by opening the wall to connect them and designing structural and decorative beams to feel integrated into the design. We modernized a 1970’s brick fireplace and hearth with modern porcelain while utilizing an existing wood stove. We designed built-ins to accommodate a surplus of pillows, blankets and board games while doubling as additional seating for large gatherings. We eliminated some windows while heightening others so natural light was capitalized. All of these design elements were incorporated while changing the entire orientation of the rooms. Now suited for modern family life, it caters to entertaining while hosting pockets of smaller spaces for chess games, reading by a beautiful window, and reclining by the fire. What more could a family room ask?!
