KITCHENS

Fewer Walls & More Windows

The walls on the backside of this house were removed entirely so that Living / Dining and Kitchen could flow and interact as one. Originally a modular home, there were some unusual quirks to work around. The Kitchen cabinetry was creatively designed to hide existing plumbing behind a false cabinet. Kitchen sink windows were shifted and widened, and the wall dividing the Kitchen Dining was removed to create a Galley Kitchen. The most impactful design change was replacing the single window at the end of the home with three windows, which flooded the opened up spaces with beautiful light. Dated oak cabinets and a choppy layout were replaced with a galley Kitchen that flaunts herringbone backsplash and classic shaker cabinetry with subtle accents.

An Entertainer’s Dream

When the Kitchen is the heart of the home and where everyone flocks during a gathering, having an oversized space to entertain in, is a luxury. This started from the studs with a large footprint to design a generously sized  layout with. This allowed for more natural light with wider windows. The lack of upper cabinetry was easily compensated with base cabinetry. This Kitchen doesn’t fall short of bells and whistles with its paneled appliances, island bar sink, brass pot filler, oversized gas range and accordian bar window to the patio. The warm toned island in a traditional door style mixed with classic white shaker perimeter cabinetry adds warmth to complement the brass toned hardware and marble and gold range splash. Extending the countertops vertically up the walls adds organic movement while the expansive windows bring the outdoors in; a luxury to feel like you’re outdoors while inside.

Simply White

Veined countertops, textured backsplash, brass lighting and wood shelving allow this Kitchen to timelessly grow over the years. Texture and subtle details give this space dimension. This started as a gray toned kitchen with chrome builder grade fixtures and washer/dryer in the center of the kitchen. Modifying the floor plan to relocate laundry appliances right off of the garage with mudroom for their growing family was a practical decision that paid off in other ways. The shifting of walls opened up natural light from the front of the home to flow into the kitchen with additional cabinetry storage space, and a pantry. Incorporating open shelving and architectural lighting broke up the mass of  cabinetry while giving some character and dimension to create a unique space.

Modern Kitchen

The all-white kitchen is given some subtle touches of drama with swivel seating to double as seats to turn to face the living room, wood stools on the peninsula side for softness, and subtle touches sprinkled throughout to add color and texture, mimicked throughout the first floor.
